A Sweet Victory for Costa Rica

Costa Rican chocolatier Sibú Chocolate has once again made waves on the international stage. The company earned a bronze medal in a prestigious Latin American competition for its Super Dark 99% chocolate bar.

The panel of judges, conducting a blind tasting, highlighted notable flavor notes such as vanilla, almond, cherry, and lemon, praising the bar’s refined texture and its rich complexity despite its extremely high cocoa content.

This remarkable recognition positions Sibú as one of the few producers in Latin America—and the only one from Costa Rica in the “finished chocolate” category—to be honored in the competition.

What This Means for Sibú

  • Global Momentum: For the second year running, Sibú is rising in prominence in the international chocolate arena.

  • Quality Without Compromise: Securing a medal in the “beyond 99% cocoa” category speaks volumes about their mastery in balancing rich, nuanced flavors with the natural bitterness of dark chocolate.

  • Pride for Costa Rica: As the sole Costa Rican brand recognized in their category, Sibú continues to elevate the country’s reputation in the global fine chocolate community.

Looking Ahead

Sibú's bronze-winning bar now moves forward to the global stage, where it will compete against top-tier chocolate creations worldwide. Recognition at this level could further boost Sibú's visibility and prestige—and shine an even brighter light on Costa Rica’s cocoa excellence.
